Hello!
I’m Lizzie

Come in. Stay a while.

I've never been very good at fitting into just one box.

For a long time, I wondered whether that was something I needed to fix.

Now I realise it's simply how I've always moved through the world.

I've been an illustrator.

A doula.

A writer.

A marketer.

A mother.

But when I look closely, they've never really felt like separate paths.

They've always been telling the same story.

A story about people.

About curiosity.

About creativity.

About finding calm in a busy world.

About making everyday moments feel just a little more beautiful.

This website is where those stories finally come together.

I'm so glad you found your way here.

A group of four people and a dog standing outdoors in front of leafless trees. It appears to be late fall or winter, and the sky is cloudy.
A smiling woman with shoulder-length brown hair wearing a white shirt holding a young child in a blue polka dot outfit in front of a decorated Christmas tree. The setting appears to be inside a home with a lamp, potted plant, and some papers on a wooden table.
Picture of a polaroid photo featuring two kids playing outside on grassy fields with trees and hills in the background, under a partly cloudy sky.
I notice things

Long before I became a doula or worked in marketing, I was drawing.

Illustration has always been my way of slowing down and making sense of the world.

I'm drawn to the beautifully ordinary.

A conversation around a kitchen table.

Children writing messages on school shirts.

The faithful dog waiting patiently by the door.

A wonky teacup.

A bunch of herbs.

The way someone smiles without realising it.

The little moments that tell much bigger stories.

Those tiny observations have always fascinated me.

Whether I'm sketching with ink, writing in a notebook or wandering through a garden, I'm usually collecting small details that other people might walk past.

I think they're worth noticing.

And perhaps that's what all of my illustrations are really about.

Helping us pause.

Smile.

Remember.

And see the beauty that's already there. This quiet, observational approach has been at the heart of your illustration work from the beginning.

I believe in
beginnings.

Becoming a mother changed the course of my life and sparked a fascination with birth, nutrition, the infant microbiome and the extraordinary transformation that happens when a family begins.

That curiosity led me to become a doula, and eventually to create The Doula's Kitchen.

Not simply as a business, but as a philosophy.

A place where food, love and gentle wisdom meet the beginning of family life.

Where science sits comfortably beside instinct.

Where nourishment means so much more than what's on your plate.

I believe the healthiest beginnings are created when people feel informed, supported and deeply cared for.

Whether I'm preparing someone for birth, sharing a recipe, talking about the microbiome or writing a postpartum guide, I'm always hoping to leave people feeling a little calmer, a little more confident and a little less alone.

Curiosity has always
been my compass.

It's taken me in all sorts of wonderful directions.

I've illustrated stories and schools.

Supported families through birth.

Written guides and journals.

Built brands.

Led marketing for cultural organisations.

Created workshops.

Filled shelves with sketchbooks.

Collected recipes from friends and grandparents.

Read far too many books at once.

Started far too many notebooks.

At first glance, those things seem wonderfully unrelated.

To me, they're all connected.

Because whether I'm drawing, writing, preparing someone for birth or helping an organisation tell its story, I'm really doing the same thing.

Helping people understand something.

Notice something.

Or feel something they perhaps hadn't before.

A person in a red polka dot shirt holding a plant inside a room with a window and green foliage outside.
Illustration of three children with blonde, brown, and curly red hair playing with stuffed animals and toys in a toy chest.
A vintage photograph of two children, a girl and a boy, wearing white clothing, standing outdoors near a stone wall, at a historic site with a large aircraft in the background.
This is home.

Today, all those threads live together.

Different rooms.

The same home.

Because none of these things have ever really been separate.

They've simply been different ways of caring.

A little note...

I don't believe life has to fit neatly into categories.

Some of the best conversations happen around a kitchen table.

Some of the best ideas begin with curiosity.

Some of the most meaningful moments are the ordinary ones we almost miss.

So thank you for stopping by.

I hope you find something here that makes you pause.

Makes you smile.

Makes you feel inspired.

Or simply reminds you that there's beauty in the everyday.

Come in. Stay a while.

A Few Things I've Learnt Along the Way

I'm naturally curious.

I've always believed that learning is a lifelong companion, whether that's through formal training, creative practice or the people we meet along the way.

Over the years I've studied birth, coaching, creativity, communication and the science of wellbeing, while also building a career in illustration, writing and marketing.

Each path has shaped the next.

Together they've become the foundation of the work I do today.

Here's to beautiful beginnings, curious minds and lives filled with things worth noticing.
